Profile/Work area:
Aysel Atimtay obtained her Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering. She is now Professor in the Environmental Engineering Department of METU. Her research interests are air pollution and air pollution control, industrial water pollution, environmental impact assessment, pollution prevention studies, waste minimisation and removal of pollutants from gaseous exhausts with sorbents. She is Head of the Air Pollution Laboratory and was the Head of the Department between 1994 and 1997. Aysel Atimtay has been a Faculty Member in Tulane University, Chemical Eng. Department, New Orleans, USA between 1981 and 1990. She has been Consultant of the Ministry of Environment on Air Pollution Problems (1998-2000) and has served as Co-chair of the Committee in the Ministry of Environment on Industrial Wastes (1998-2000). She was a DAAD Fellow in 1998 to visit University of Stuttgart.
