Profile/Work area: 

Nicolas Escalante studied Environmental Engineering (MSc.) at the University of Stuttgart, and has worked at the Institute of Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Solid Waste Management as a research assistant. His research experience includes the following topics: sustainable materials management, evaluation and simulation of waste management systems, Life Cycle Assessment of household waste management strategies, decision-support systems for environmental policy, dry anaerobic digestion of biowaste and renewable resources, and hazardous waste management.

Sergio Barrera carried out a Training Course in Solid Waste Management, Japan Environmental Sanitation Centre, Tokyo Japan. He has a Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering, University of Louisville, Louisville , USA and studied Civil Engineering at the Universidad de los Andes.
