In addition to these social and cultural aspects, substantial barriers within the scientific community and in the implementation process of sustainable waste management strategies/technologies are investigated.

In WP4 we analyze one of the toughest problems that men in Latin America have had since the latest days of the Spanish colonisation.
Until now this continent has problems which have a common origin: the gender and educational barriers. These problems are also reflected directly in the technical and economical development of our countries and in an indirect form in the implementation of a modern managing method of the solid waste disposal. This can be observed in different magnitudes in the big cities as well as in the small villages of the different countries.
The workshop in Bogota will open a gate if we consider this as an opportunity to solve or improve these barriers. Because of that we invite our partners and the special guests to bring to this meeting all their ideas and concepts that could be of great value and help to eliminate these kind of limitations of our population, because such barriers can be found within and in-between branches of the scientific community. The critical view should be used and showed to the European countries, in order to be able to interact with target groups and stakeholders that could offer us the chance for open discussions and thus streamline the energy and resources of engaged people.
