The International WasteNet platform provides a new communication channel between experts in Latin America and the "Science & Technology"-community in Europe and in other countries.
Interested actors and parties are invited to enter the platform (e.g. through a portal at www.wastenet.de) with an individual know-how profile or a particular offer for the exchange of experiences. They are encouraged to interact and exchange information through direct contact, during workshops or in chat rooms. The platform functions as a congregation of multipliers (network nodes) - continuously fostering the growth of the network.
The International platform accomplishes the Latin American Platform in order to improve the accessibility to knowledge and best practice projects at the international level.
The members of the WasteNet INCO-SSA* project organize International workshops, publish www-based information sources and printed information material covering the key topics that are necessary to be introduced into RTD strategies and research programmes.
The WasteNet website makes results accessible to the public. In this sense, the international research co-operation between INCO target countries and the EU will be strengthened.
*INCO-SSA = Specific Support Action in the framework of research activities in International co-operation with third countries (non-members of the European Union).
